Membership
CVCAR’s global community includes students, researchers, educators, community members, and institutions dedicated to advancing Cabo Verdean research and education.
Our membership structure supports diverse participation across academic, professional, and community levels, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing worldwide.
Membership Categories
Founding Membership
Founding Membership is for the visionary individuals who established CVCAR and laid the groundwork for its mission. This membership may overlap with other membership categories — a Founding Member may simultaneously hold Regular, Affiliate, or Student membership status. Founding Members who are also Regular Members retain full voting rights.
Regular Membership
Regular Membership is the core membership of CVCAR. As the only voting membership category, Regular Members play a direct role in shaping the direction and leadership of the organization. All board officers and candidates for the Board of Directors must hold Regular Membership. This membership reflects a deep commitment to advancing Cabo Verdean studies and CVCAR’s mission.
Student Membership
Student Membership welcomes the next generation of Cabo Verdean scholars and researchers. This membership is open to students who are passionate about Cabo Verdean studies and want to engage with an academic community dedicated to cultural preservation and research. Student Members do not hold voting rights but are an integral part of CVCAR’s future.
Affiliate Membership
Affiliate Membership is for supporters and collaborators who share CVCAR’s commitment to the interdisciplinary study of Cabo Verdean history, culture, language, and people. While Affiliate Members do not hold voting rights, they are valued contributors to the CVCAR community and the growth of Cabo Verdean scholarship.
